Biography

Minghua received his B.Eng. and M.S. degrees from the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University in 1999 and 2001, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at University of California at Berkeley in 2006. He visited Microsoft Research Redmond as a postdoc from 2006 to 2007. He joined the Department of Information Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2007, where he currently is an Assistant Professor.

Minghua's Ph.D. thesis work has been incorporated into commercial products of Truvideo Inc., which are adopted by Verizon and Sprint to provide video streaming service. Ideas from his research at Microsoft Research Redmond led to six filed patents and are being transferred into Microsoft products. He wrote the book "IPv6 Principle and Practice" with Haisang Wu, Maoke Chen, Xinwei Hu, and Cheng Yan (People's Posts and Telecommunication Publishing House, 2000). His current research interests include peer-to-peer networking, wireless networking and multimedia processing.
