Admission

Applicants may apply on the strength of Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination results, or through non-JUPAS schemes (e.g., Early Admission, Mainland Student Admission, and Overseas Student Admission). Applications will be considered based on the applicants' academic results as well as extracurricular achievements.

We hold interviews for prospective students in order to understand their interests and eligibility to the programme. We look for students who have a genuine interest in Information Engineering, who are enthusiastic in innovative work and with good communication skills and commitment to study.

**We invite all JUPAS applicants who choose IE (4446) as one of their Band A choices to attend IE Admission Interviews in mid-May, 2008. The interview will be part of the selection process in IE undergraduate admission for 2008 entry.

Applicants apply with HKALE results (JUPAS) must fulfill the Minimum Entrance Requirements:

  1. University's Minimum Entrance Requirements
  2. Hong Kong Certification of Education Examination (HKCEE) Requirements:
    The applicant should obtain grade E or above in at least seven subjects including Chinese Language, English Language (Syllabus B), good grades in Physics and Mathematics and Additional Mathematics. Students with exceptional results may apply through the early admissions scheme.
  3. Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) Requirements:
    The applicant should obtain:
    (i) grade E or above in Chinese Language and Culture (AS) and Use of English (AS); AND
    (ii) good grade in Pure Mathematics (AL), OR Physics (AL), OR Applied Mathematics (AL); OR Computer Studies (AL); AND
    (iii) good grade in one other AL science subject, OR two AS science subjects, OR one AS science subject plus Liberal Studies (AS)
    * Science subjects include:
    Applied Mathematics (AL/AS), Biology (AL), Chemistry (AL/AS), Computer Applications (AS), Computer Studies (AL), Electronics (AS), Engineering Science (AL), Maths & Statistics (AS), Physics (AL/AS), Pure Mathematics (AL).
