The MScIE Students and Alumni Association (MSAA)’s mission is to reach, serve, and engage all MScIE students and alumni. Memberships of MSAA are automatically given to all MScIE alumni and current students.

In addition, all MScIE students can join the Information Engineering Alumni Association (IEAA) upon graduation. Through the powerful network of thousands of members, alumni can have close contact with the IE graduates who are now serving in various professions, including university professors, company directors and senior managers. IEAA also maintains a resourceful portal which is fully opened to the IE alumni.

The MSc in Information Engineering programme believes effective instruction should be accomplished by an enjoyable learning experience. To this, the programme organizes activities including the following:

Welcome dinners are organized prior to the beginning of every school year. This offers an opportunity for students and staffs to share, and to introduce the programme to newly admitted students.

The programme organizes SIGs in various areas such as systems and networks, software and applications, and business and management. Internationally renowned faculty members from the Department of Information Engineering, whose research interests are in the related fields are invited to participate in the groups. Students can gain the state-of-the-art knowledge through direct interaction with the researchers and peer members. They can also enhance their career profile by listing themselves as member of these professional SIGs. New SIGs can also be proposed by students upon request.

The programme organizes various community events for students from time to time. It also encourages students to organize social activities among themselves. In 2007-2008, the programme will sponsor more student community events to cover expense on drinks and other after class leisure activities.

To provide our students with an enjoyable learning experience, a free 4-day study tour will be provided to all MScIE students admitted in 2007, tentatively late December 2007, in Sheung Hai! Details to be announced soon.
