Task 1
Setup the hosts name, ip address of assigned
hosts and config the firewall
Task 1.1 Setup the hostname, ip of the firewall, the enterprise server
and the client (Difficulty = 1, 3 is max)
- Login using the remote console, setup the hostname of the firewall,
enterprise server and the client. The initial root passwod is ak47-m16
- change the root password and send your changed root password together
with your group no to sfluk@ie.cuhk.edu.hk
- setup the ip address and netmask and gateway of the firewall (there's
3 interfaces of the firewall : eth0,eth1, eth2). For the firewall, pls use
137.189.99.190 as the gateway. The ip and netmask of eth1 and eth2 is decided
by you.
- get openssh* packages from ftp://ftp.erg.cuhk.edu.hk:/pub/iews/yr2 to
firewall to updated a security hole of the bundled openssh package
- You can use 137.189.99.1 as your temp DNS server before you set one
in your network.
- setup the ip address, netmask and gateway of the enterprise server
Task 1.2 Setup DHCP server on the firewall (Difficulty = 1)
- Setup DHCP server on the firewall, you can get any missed package at
ftp://ftp.erg.cuhk.edu.hk:/pub/iews/yr2
- Config the enterprise client to get ip address via DHCP from firewall
Task 1.3 Setup of the connectivity of your enterprise network (Difficulty
= 2)
- Config the firewall so that your enterprise network and client can
access Internet
- PLs note that only port 22,80 and 389 of your enterprise network is
open to the CUHK network and other ports are blocked by the upstream firewall
Checklist
- Your firewall could reach IE network (via ping)
- Your enterprise server could reach IE network
- Your enterprise client should get ip address using DCHP and could reach
IE network
