Prof. Yajin Zhou Honored with Test-of-Time Award at the 2026 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy

We are pleased to share that Prof. Yajin Zhou has been honored with a Test-of-Time Award at the 2026 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy, one of the premier conferences in computer security and electronic privacy. This prestigious award recognizes papers that have demonstrated lasting and significant impact on the field.

The award was presented for the paper:
Y. Zhou and X. Jiang, “Dissecting Android Malware: Characterization and Evolution,” Proceedings of the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy, 2012.

This year’s Test-of-Time Award considered all papers published at IEEE S&P prior to 2016, spanning research from 1980 to 2016. The selection committee emphasized that the true impact of research can only be meaningfully assessed after at least a decade. In total, only five papers were selected, with the earliest dating back to 1987. Notably, this marks the first time an Asian university has received this distinguished recognition.

This award highlights the enduring influence of Prof. Zhou’s work on Android malware analysis and its long-term contribution to advancing cybersecurity research.

Hearty congratulations to Prof. Zhou on this significant achievement.
