Before being admitted to CUHK, I had no idea about programming and software development. I decided to take Information Engineering (IE) as my major since the courses provided by IE are well-rounded. Data structure & algorithms, Software engineering, cloud computing security, etc., were some of the courses I took during the study. Although the knowledge taught in these classes might seem more theoretical, it is very useful in the long run, say, reaching higher levels in future careers. Theories behind each technology are the most challenging part to comprehend. Once you understand the foundation, it is much easier to realize it even if it changes in the future, but not vice versa.

I do not regard myself as a “smart” student. Indeed, I always raised questions during my studies at IE. Professors and tutors here are enthusiastic about teaching and willing to resolve my confusion, even in their spare time. I feel grateful that I chose IE as my major, which gave me a wonderful learning experience.
