As more and more services are moving online, the “digital footprint” of the societal activities grows exponentially, and has become valuable resources for different stakeholders. This opens up tremendous opportunities for multi-disciplinary research – what I call “Data Analytic Social Science” (similar to what other people call “Social Computing” or “Quantitative Social Science”). I will share various examples of research in this direction that I come across, including some of my own research, for the purpose of broadening our research horizon. I will also briefly discuss some unique traits of IE people in this line of research.
