Tat M. Lok received the BSc degree in electronic engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the MSEE degree and the PhD degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University. He was a post-doctoral research associate at Purdue University.

He then joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he is currently an associate professor. His research interests include communication theory, communication networks, signal processing for communications and wireless systems. He has served on TPCs of many international conferences including IEEE ICC, VTC, Globecom, WCNC, ISIT, and etc. He has also served on the editorial boards of several international journals including the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (2002-2008) and the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications (2015-2018).
