Prof. Zhao’s research is primarily on the control and optimization of networked systems, e.g., power systems. He was a recipient of the 2020 Early Career Award of the Hong Kong Research Grants Council and the 2021 Prize Paper Award of the IEEE Power and Energy Society. From 2016 to 2019, he was with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (now known as the National Laboratory of the Rockies), Colorado, US.
