Dr. Kaiming He, an alumnus of the IE PhD program in 2011, has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Future Science Prize in mathematics and computer science. The prize recognizes Dr. He’s groundbreaking contributions to artificial intelligence through his work on deep residual learning.

He shares the prize in mathematics and computer science with three other recipients: Sun Jian (late), Ren Shaoqing, and Zhang Xiangyu, with whom he worked closely between 2012 and 2016 at Microsoft Research Asia in Beijing.

He was supervised by Prof. Sean Tang during his PhD study in Information Engineering at CUHK.
