We proudly announce that two pioneering projects from Professor Guoliang Xing and Professor Zhenyu Yan’s teams have been awarded Gold Medals at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva:
The project titled “An Intelligent LiDAR with Adaptive Focus” was led by Professor Xing Guoliang, with team members Huang Xuan and Bian Chen. This project is recognized as the world’s first advanced adaptive LiDAR system that enhances scanning efficiency by dynamically optimizing scan focus through an intelligent, software-defined mirror controller. It achieves much higher resolution on regions of interest, leading to significantly more efficient and safer autonomous driving.
Another project titled “Sonar-based Underwater Human Activity Monitoring System”, was led by Professor Yan Zhenyu, Professor Xing Guoliang, Hou Haozheng, Bowen Zheng, and Wu Peiheng. This first-of-its-kind underwater sonar system enhances safety in swimming pools by monitoring human activity and alerting lifeguards to potential dangers. Proven effective over two years of deployment in Hong Kong, it can provide valuable support to lifeguards with accurate detection. enhances safety in swimming pools by monitoring human activity and alerting lifeguards to potential dangers, with proven effectiveness over two years of deployment in Hong Kong.
Congratulations to Professor Xing, Professor Yan, and their dedicated teams for their outstanding achievements and contributions to technological innovation and public safety.
In addition to this, this year, CUHK also won a record-breaking 34 awards at this prestigious international exhibition. For details, please check:
